Really cold
Call me a chicken but I ran inside yesterday. According to weather.com it was 25 degrees but with the wind chill it felt like 15. While I might consider running in 20-something weather, there's no way in hell I'd run when it's in the teens. So it was the treadmill for me. I've decided that I should use my time on the treadmill to increase my pace (since there aren't any hills and it's actually an easier workout). I got up to an 8:40 mile yesterday (for 1 mile) and that was my limit. Not bad for a first try. Now I'm starting to get ideas about my next race.

When I was living in Chicago area and running on my HS x-country team, there was a period of days when it was -25F with a windchill of -40F. Schools were closed (but reluctantly - those Chicagoans are hearty), mainly because the buses wouldn't start and they didn't want kids waiting outside in the cold for the bus. ANYway, the coach told us not to train that day. I ignored him and bundled up for a run, just to see what it was like. I didn't freeze, but I probably should have gotten pneumonia with all the cold air in my lungs. The frozen snot in my nose eventually did melt, unfortunately. So now I don't really complain too much about the cold, except when I forget the gloves.
Hey Steve,
Yeah, I know I shouldn't complain too much about the cold. But my formative running years were done in AZ where being a bad ass meant running when it was over 100 degrees outside. Welcome to PA!
